Hummus Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 ounces) of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini (sesame paste)
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh parsley, paprika, pine nuts

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, and a pinch of salt.

  2. Process the mixture until it's well blended and smooth. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a tablespoon of water to achieve the desired consistency.

  3. Taste the hummus and adjust the seasonings. Add more salt, lemon juice, or cumin if needed.

  4. Transfer the hummus to a serving dish and create a well in the center with the back of a spoon.

  5. Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil over the top of the hummus.

  6. If desired, garnish the hummus with chopped fresh parsley, a sprinkle of paprika, and toasted pine nuts.

  7. Serve the hummus with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a spread for sandwiches.

Note: You can also customize this basic hummus recipe by adding ingredients like roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, or herbs to create different variations.
